Hardware Questions and Answers - Missing File on Hardware Installation

Angie writes in with a hardware question:
Q. Whenever I insert the disk for the network adapter and the computer is loading it finds the new hardware and prompts to insert the disk but after inserting the disk it states it can not find the file ....it says to enter the file or place to load from ...how do i do this?

A. It depends on what file it is looking for. If it’s a file on the disk then you can click the browse button and search through the folders on the disk until you find it. You can also search the disk by using My Computer or Windows Explorers search feature to find the file and then browse to it when it asks during the installation. Open My Computer and right click the disk drive and pick search or find and type in the name of the file that it is looking for. Make a note of where it is when you go to install the adapter. There is a chance it is looking for a Windows file off of the Windows CD in which case you would have to have the Windows CD in the drive.
