Hardware Questions and Answers - How to Connect a Computer to a TV

Kimberly writes in with a hardware question
Q. I just recently purchased a computer not at all familiar with them pretty much a very nice computer guy I purchased it from had movies stored on it I was wondering is it any way to plug the computer to my TV I do not see any video jacks on the computer I would like to know if I can plug the computer to my TV using any type of jacks extensions or anything or can it be plugged through the DVD player it has a USB port.

A. In order to connect your computer a TV you will need some type of video output on your computer and/or video input on your TV. Many video cards will have an S-video out connection on the back of the computer that you can use to connect to your TV. Or if your TV has a VGA input you can connect a VGA cable from where your monitor goes on the back of the computer to this VGA input on your TV. Basically you need some sort of video output on the computer and input on the TV that will work together.

Another option is to burn the movies on to DVDs and then watch them on your TV. You will need special software like Nero Vision Express or Roxio to do this. You may already have this type of software on your computer.
