Networking Questions and Answers - Joining Windows 98 Workstation to 2003 Server Domain

Tariq writes in with a networking question
Q. I join windows 98 system to windows 2003 active directory domain but when client logs on to domain error appear "no domain server is available to validate your password so you will not be able to access some network resources". How I can successfully join windows 98 computer to windows 2003 server's domain?

A. Windows 98 computers cannot join a 2003 Server domain. They can change the workgroup name to match and see network resources but they aren’t officially part of the domain like a Windows 2000 or XP Pro computer would be. Technically they are logging into the domain but are not domain members. Group Policy and so on won’t apply to a Windows 98 computer so you will run into issues.
