Who Owns the Internet? - Common Computer Questions
Question: Who Owns the Internet?
Answer: Nobody really owns the internet since we all use it and can contribute to it in such ways as making websites, writing blogs, joining sites such as Facebook and so on. There are also many independent people/companies that supply the network hardware needed to make the internet work. Without the use this hardware and communication lines such as phone lines and fiber optic cabling the internet would not be able to connect almost anywhere at the fast speed that it does today. There are organizations that help regulate the internet by tracking and distributing things such as IP addresses and domain names such as ICANN and InterNIC.
