Variations Between Office 2010, 2007 and 2003 - Microsoft Office Help Tips
Microsoft, as most other software vendors do release new versions of their products as they make improvements and fix issues. I'm sure you are aware of the many versions of Windows throughout the years. Microsoft seems to release as many versions of its Office software as they do their Window operating system. And each one is supposed to be better and more advanced than the last.
Microsoft has improved functionality in many areas with each release of its Office product line. When Office 2007 was released, it included a major change from Office 2003 with the introduction of the ribbon in the user interface for Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
The user interface changed from a collection of toolbars and menus to a new ribbon layout designed to put common functions in one place. Office 2010 uses the same ribbon functionality plus 2007 some new features. The following chart shows the major difference in the user interface between Office 2010, 2003 and 2003.
