Microsoft Office Questions and Answers - Word Saves New Documents as Web Page (html) Files

Ed writes in with an Office question
Question:I installed and registered a copy of Office 2003. Now, when I try to save a Word document, it will save it as a web page rather than a Word document.

Answer: When you save your Word documents make sure you default save setting is for .doc files rather than .html files. You will have a drop down selection next to Save as type where you can choose what type of file you want to save your document as.

You can also check your Word save options to make sure that they are set correctly to .doc rather than .html. Click on Tools, Options and then click the Save tab. On the bottom you will see a section under Default format that says Save Word files as. Make sure its set to Word Document (*.doc). If it already is then I would try a repair installation or completely removing, running Ccleaner and then rebooting. Then reinstall after that.
