Microsoft Office Removal Wizard - Microsoft Office Help Tips

When removing Microsoft Office software you would normally use the Add/Remove Programs feature in Control Panel. This works great most of the time but there will be instances where all of the programs information is not removed from your computer. This may cause problems when trying to reinstall or upgrade Office on your computer.

If you run into any problems during installation or removal of Office from your computer then you can run the Office Removal Wizard which will allow you to exert additional control over which files to remove and which to retain. If you are upgrading in stages to Office 2003, you can use the wizard to remove previously installed versions of the specific applications you choose to upgrade.

The Office Removal Wizard can detect and remove Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000, and Office XP, as well as Microsoft Office Multilingual User Interface Packs and individual Office applications. If you are worried about the safety of your documents when using the wizard then don’t worry since the tool only removes Office components and not documents.

If you have the Microsoft Office 2003 Resource Kit installed then the Office Removal Wizard will be included with it and should be installed on your computer. If not then you can download and install it on your computer. The Resource Kit will have other handy tools as well.

To locate the tool, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office Resource Kit, and then click Removal Wizard.
