Sound Only Coming Out of One Speaker

Will writes in with a hardware question

Question: To try and get a better volume and sound out of my Acer aspire 5920 laptop I bought a Logitech S220 speaker system. It works fine with my MP3 player but when I hook it up to the laptop only the subwoofer and one of the speakers works the right hand speaker stays silent. Any ideas on solving this?

Answer: Assuming your output on your laptop is stereo you may have a hardware issue with the right channel being faulty. I would connect some headphones to the speaker jack and see if you get both sides working. If not then check your sound settings in Control Panel and make sure the Balance is not set to just the left side. Go to the Playback tab and click on Configure to see and test your settings and also Properties to check the balance from the Levels tab.
