Using Recovery Drive for Storage

Donald writes in with a hardware question

Question: I have a Lenovo PC and it has two drives. The D drive is empty and the C drive is full. How do I put pics etc on D drive?

Answer: The first thing to check is to make sure your D drive is not a recovery drive. Did you add this drive or did it or did it come with the computer? If it came with the computer then it’s most likely a recovery drive used to store the files needed to do a system recovery on your computer if needed.

If you go into Windows Explorer and right click the D drive and choose Properties it will tell you if there is any space in use on the drive. The files may be hidden and that's why you don't see them. If that's the case then you don't want to add or remove any files from that drive.

If all the space on the drive is free or your added the drive yourself then all you need to do to add pictures is make a folder or folders on the D drive and save your pictures into that folder.
