Keyboard Does Not Work - PC Hardware Questions & Answers

Rene writes in with a hardware question:

Question:
I can't get any of my keys to work. I can't type anything at all. What should I do? My computer is new.

Answer: The first 2 things I would try are to first check your keyboard connection on the back of the computer. Shut it down and take the keyboard plug out of the back and then plug it back in. Turn on the computer and try it again.

Next I would get a new keyboard or borrow one off of another computer. If it still doesn't work it is most likely your keyboards PS/2 port. I've seen them go bad before. I would take it back and have it fixed. If you don't want to take it back you can get a USB keyboard instead. It will use a different port so you can bypass the PS/2 port.
