Question:When powering on my computer i get the following error messages. pxe-e61 media test failure pxe-mof exiting px rom operating system not found. Now the computer was working fine one day and the next day when i turned it on I get this.
Answer: The pxe message is showing because your computer is trying to boot from the network because it most likely cant find your hard drive and is going to the next available option. You can check in your BIOS and see if your hard drive is listed there and being recognized by the computer. If not then you may have a faulty hard drive or cable. Also make sure that the network boot option is not listed first in the boot order.>
If your hard drive is being recognized then the boot record or other data may be damaged. You can use the Windows Recovery Console to repair the master boot record but this is a more advanced technique.
When you get to the Recovery Console type fixboot c: and press enter. It may prompt you asking you if you are sure so say yes. After this you may want to try and reboot without the CD in to see if it worked because the next command can be hazardous to your computer. If it does not work then you need to boot go back to the Recovery Console and try the next command.
Type fixmbr and press enter. It may prompt you asking you if you are sure so say yes. Try rebooting again to see if it works.
