PC Troubleshooting Questions and Answers - Monitor Not Showing in Color

Brian writes in with a troubleshooting question:
Question:
why is my monitor monochromatic? I have tried 2 different video cards (both AGP) and 2 different monitors. One monitor is all green, the other is all red. What is the problem here: is it the AGP slot, is it the BIOS, or what? Please help.

Answer: You could have a problem with your AGP slot or possibly even your motherboard itself. It’s tough to say without seeing it. Is there a way you can try a PCI video card to see if it’s the AGP slot or the motherboard? You can always buy one and if it doesn’t solve it you can take it back and if it does then you are back in business. If it still doesn’t work with the PCI card let us know and we can take it from there.
