PC Troubleshooting Questions and Answers - RICHTX32.OCX Error Message

Question: I recently bought a video card and my husband hooked it up and when he tried to load the installation CD, an error message said; runtime error '372' failed to load control "rich textbox" from RICHTX32.OCX. Your version may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application. I have no idea what this means or what I should do next.

Answer: Richtx32.ocx is a module for the Microsoft Rich Text OLE Control and provides advanced editing capability for the TextBox object.

Download this updated richtx32.ocx file from this Microsoft link and extract it to your C:\Windows\System32 folder.

You can extract the files using a utility such as WinZip

Then find the file that says richtx32.inf and right click it and choose install.
