PC Troubleshooting Questions and Answers - Blue Screen Driver Error Message

Jonathan writes in with a troubleshooting question

Question:
Can I somehow reboot my computer with out the disk because my computer keeps showing a blue screen saying I have something wrong with a driver and I need to reinstall it or uninstall it and I did that to possibly every program so can anyone help me plzz?

Answer:  If you are getting blue screen errors and cannot boot your computer normally and do not have a Windows or recovery CD then there is only so much you can do. I would see if you can get into Safe Mode and from there you can try the Last known good configuration option or go into Safe Mode itself and try and troubleshoot it. If you can get into Safe Mode you may want to try a System Restore back to a date before you had these problems. Or if you updated a driver that you know of you can do a driver rollback from Device Manager. If none of that helps then you can do a repair installation if you can get yourself a Windows CD. The repair installation installs Windows over itself and leaves your programs and files intact. Just keep in mind that it may not work depending on if your Windows installation is too damaged.
