PC Troubleshooting Questions and Answers - Error Loading c:\progra~1newdot~1/.dll Message

Question: When I turn on my computer a box pops up with this message: error loading c:\progra~1newdot~1/.dll

Answer: You may have some spyware known as Cool Web Search on your computer. You should first download and install CWShredder from Trend Micro Here

You should also do some other spyware scans to make sure there is nothing else on your computer. I would do some spyware scans within Safe Mode. You can start with Spybot, AdAware and AVG since they are free.

Another thing you should do is check your startup items and uncheck anything that looks suspicious or that you don't want running with your computer. This usually makes a big difference since you can stop some of these items from starting with your computer and make it easier to clean. You can look for any references to Newdot and uncheck that item.

Finally you can look in your Add/Remove Programs and uninstall anything that doesn't belong there such as toolbars you didn't install or anything else you don't want.
