Opera Web Browser

In the never ending browser wars Opera is trying to get its share with their new web browser. The Opera browser claims to be the fastest web browser due to things like its fast Java Engine. It offers features similar to Internet Explorer and Firefox such as tabbed browsing which lets you open multiple tabs each with their own webpage within the same browser window.

Here are some of the features of Opera:

Opera offers private browsing like Firefox which is a mode that doesn't keep any record of what pages you have been to and deletes any cookies and history related to those pages. This comes in handy if you are using someone else's computer and don't want to leave any history of where you have been.

Widgets are add-ons for Opera that serve different purposes such as adding more functionality to the browser or making it more fun by adding games. There are widgets for many purposes: weather forecasts, games, clocks, dictionaries, media players, and so on.

Panels give you quick access to your bookmarks, contacts, browsing history, and other features. They can be turned on or off so only the panels you want to use are shown.

Opera Turbo is a service that speeds up browsing on slow connections using server side compression of web pages. It will make a dial-up connection more nearly resemble a broadband line. How well this works will depend on your connection.

Opera Link is a service that enables data sharing between all your computers and devices. It synchronizes the following various browser items such as your bookmarks, history and searches.

Speed Dial gives you quick access to your favorite Web sites. Each time you open a new tab, you will see a grid of thumbnails, each representing a Website. To open a page, click on the it’s thumbnail.

Opera is available for Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile devices and can be downloaded for free here
