Jane writes in with a software question:
Q. Can I arrange for my emails in Outlook Express to be viewed by my boss on another PC?
A. You can copy your e-mail folders to your boss's computer or any other computer by doing the following:
In Outlook Express go to Tools, Options, Maintenance and then click on Store Folder. You will see a path similar to this:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{3D27286C-1527-49B4-AA4A-827D6C83CC11}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
where username is the name you log onto the computer with.
Go to that location on your computer. An easy way to do so is to copy and paste the whole path and then go to Start and Run, paste in the path and click Ok. If you copy all of those files to your boss's computer into the same directory on his computer then he will be able to see all of your e-mail. Just make sure you copy it to the right username if you have more than one user on the computer. Keep in mind when you overwrite the files on your boss's computer that any of his e-mail will be overwritten.
If your boss needs to use Outlook Express for his own e-mail and you have regular Outlook which comes with Office then you can import your e-mail to Outlook, save it as a pst file and export it. Then on your boss's computer you can import it to his regular Outlook so he will use Outlook Express for his e-mail and Outlook for yours.
If you want to allow him to see your updated Outlook Express e-mails as they come in on both computer then that is not possible. You may want to setup Remote Desktop and he can log into your computer from his and check your e-mail when you are not on it.
