I am not a computer wiz but I can follow directions please please help all I want is to be able to type on it and save it to a disk i have a desktop at home for all the other stuff but I need the laptop for word processing on the go. please please help.
A. This must be a really old laptop! Here are some ideas. It’s hard to try them out since I don’t have a computer with strictly DOS on it but good luck!
Microsoft Word 5.5 for DOS is free and you can download it here. It will be an EXE file that you will somehow have to get on to the laptop. It is too big for a floppy though. Be sure to read the readme files.
Other sites to try.

Or if you can find WordPerfect 5.1 that may work too.
