Q. I'm having a problem trying to log into a secured site.
I keep getting the error message...(Your "Cookies" Settings On Your Browser May Be Disabled To obtain access into the Restricted site, you must Enable Cookies.)I have reset to allow cookies in the tool bar/privacy tab/advanced option. Please help..this did not work. What should I try next? Note, I was able to access this site before. I also recently added Norton Antivirus/Internet Security.
A. When you said "I have reset to allow cookies in the tool bar/privacy tab/advanced option" do you mean in Internet Explorer settings? If not, go to Internet Explorer and then Tools then Internet Options. Under the Privacy and also the Content tab click on the default button. Norton may have changed them when you installed it.
There is a very good chance that it is a Norton setting. Norton Internet Security tends to block more than is needed and can be a real hassle if you don’t know where to go to configure it. You can try and open Norton and disable the firewall etc and see if it makes a difference if you cannot find the settings. I do not have it installed so I can’t really check.
I found this on a site where you can add the site to Norton:
-
Open Norton Personal Firewall.
-
Click on the Personal Firewall option and click the configure button in the bottom right hand corner of the window.
-
Click on the ‘Networking’ tab and click the Trusted button, then click Add.
-
Make sure the ‘individually’ radio button is checked. Then type the URL for your website in the box provided and click OK.
