Software Questions and Answers - Removing Windows Media Player 10

Arleen writes in with a software question:
Q. I recently downloaded Windows media Player 10 and now nothing about it works.  When I try to play music..nothing...I could before. When it is required in email to open documents it tells me that I need a "codex" when this is downloaded, MS displays a window saying that it has not been cleared for XP and refuses to put it on my computer.  I don't know how to get the player off my computer nor what to do now.
Can you help me?

A. You can go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Windows Media Player 10. Just make sure the box that says Show Updates is checked or else you wont see it listed. Check out this link for more details.

If that doesn’t work you may want to try a System Restore back to a point before you installed Windows Media Player 10. Check this link for details.
