You may receive this error when running a SpyBot Search and Destroy scan on your computer. In the middle of the scan you will get the kann nicht geöffnet werden error message and it will say something similar to “the file C:\WINDOWS\win.ini cannot be opened. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.” Then the scan will abort.
This happens when you are using SpyBot version 1.3 with an outdated advcheck.dll file. To check the version date of your advcheck.dll file open My Computer or Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\advcheck.dll assuming you installed SpyBot in the default directory. Right click the advcheck.dll file and choose Properties, then look for the modified date. If it is older than October 4th, 2004 the file needs to be updated. You can choose the update icon within SpyBot and download and install the updates. You should be looking for one that says Advanced detection routines update (75 KB) - 2004-10-14. Or you can go to their website and download the update manually.

An easier fix is to download and install version 1.4. This will have the updated advcheck.dll file in it. We recommend uninstalling version 1.3 first.
