Spyware Questions and Answers -Internet Explorer Object Required - Undefined Error Message

Mary writes in with a spyware question

Question:
When I open a window in internet explorer I get a message that pops up with "object required - undefined". I then have to click ok and then I can open the window. If I click on a link and it needs to open another window I get the message again and I have to exit out and keep trying until I can get the window to open. What do I need to do to correct this?

Answer: This message can be caused by a spyware infection. If you have any non standard toolbars installed in Internet Explorer then that may be the cause too. I would remove any toolbars that aren't the typical ones which include the Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar and MSN/Windows Live Toolbar. They should be able to be removed using Add/Remove Programs.

Then I would do some spyware scans to make sure you don't have any infections on your computer. You can use the free Spybot, AdAware and Malwarebytes.

I would also do a cleanup of your system using the free Ccleaner program.

Finally I would check yours startup items for anything that looks suspicious using msconfig.
