TrendProtect is a browser plug-in from Trend Micro that helps keep your computer safe from websites that contain unwanted content. It will rate the current site and other sites listed in Google, MSN, and Yahoo search results. You can then use the rating to decide if you want to visit the site or not. TrendProtect refers to an extensive database to rate websites that covers information for billions of Web pages. It uses several categories in its ratings such as content category, phishing scam detection, site reputation and page reputation.
TrendProtect allows you to avoid sources of infection by allowing you to scan your computer immediately if you open a website rated unsafe by TrendProtect. Version 1.2 provides two new rating types. One displays if the page is suspicious and another if TrendProtect is unable to connect to rating servers.
TrendProtect adds a button to your browser's toolbar which changes colors to indicate whether the current page you are viewing is safe, suspicious, dangerous, trusted, or contains unwanted content. It also changes colors when rating sites listed in Google, MSN, and Yahoo search results. In the search results, moving your mouse over an advisory icon displays a page advisory, which has additional information about the rated Web page.
