Troubleshooting Questions and Answers - No Display on Monitor

Md. Moshin writes in with a troubleshooting question:
Q. There is no display in my Monitor.

A. The first thing I would try is to check your monitor connection to the back of the computer to make sure it is securely connected. Then I would replace the monitor with another one. If you can borrow one to test it out with that would be your best bet. If you rule out the monitor then you need to look at your video card. If its an actual card compared to an onboard video card then you can try to reseat it in the slot or if its a PCI card then you can try a different slot. You can also replace it or borrow another one to test with. If its onboard then you can try to install an add-on video card to see if the onboard card has failed. If none of these work then it could be a problem with your motherboard, RAM or processor. If any of these three go bad then you will not get any video. Unfortunately those are harder and more expensive to troubleshoot and replace for testing. I would start with the RAM first since its the easiest.
