Nancy writes in with a virus question
Q. My computer is telling me I have a Trojan virus called winx32 and I don’t know how to get rid of it. Can you please help me?
A. I'm not sure if winx32 is actually a virus. It appears to be some sort of free utility you can install on your computer. Here is a description.

It may contain spyware though and be one of those programs that was installed without you knowing about it. I would first go to Add/Remove Programs and see if its listed there and uninstall it if it is.
If not then go into your startup items and see if its listed there and uncheck the box next to it.
After that boot into Safe Mode and do a virus and spyware scan. Make sure you have your programs up to date first. You can start with Spybot and AdAware since they are free. Check out these links for instructions.
You can download SpyBot here

and Adaware here.

I found one reference to winx32 on the Symantec (Norton) site but it may not apply to you.

Also make sure that this message you are getting on your computer is from a legitimate program that you have installed on your computer and not from a website popup.
