How do I change my computer’s name? - Common Computer Questions
Question: How do I change my computer’s name?
Answer: This is a pretty easy thing to do in Windows and is virtually the same in all versions. What you need to do is right click on My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows 7 & Vista) and choose Properties.
Then for XP go to the Computer Name tab and click on the Change button. Type in the new name of the computer in the Computer name box and click OK.

For Windows 7 and Vista it will look a little different after choosing Properties from the right click menu.

Under the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings area click on Change settings and you will see a similar box to what XP uses.

Then you can click on Change and do the same process you would for an XP computer. After changing the name of the computer you will need to reboot. Keep in mind that if you have this computer on a network and other computers connect to it by name or have mapped drives pointing to it then they will have to be updated to reflect the new name.
