How to Make Internet Explorer Your Default Web Browser - Windows Tips
Nowadays people have many web browsers installed on their computer because they like to do things such as experiment with them or some pages may display better in certain browsers and so on. You may even run across a web page that has components that don't work at all in one browser such as having pages with buttons or links that don't work. Other examples of web browsers include Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
Windows likes to have default programs for all the things it does. For example if you click on a .doc file, the default program is most likely going to be Microsoft Word or .txt will be Notepad and so on. The same goes for web browsers. When you go to a website or try to open an .html file then Windows will use its default web browser to get you there. If you want your default web browser to be Internet Explorer then here is how you set that up.
Open Internet Explorer
Select Tools then Internet Options
Click on the Programs tab
Click on the Make default button under Default web browser
If you want IE to tell you if another browser has made itsedlf default then check the box that says Tell me if Internet Explorer in not the default web browser.
Click OK
Close all Internet Explorer windows and restart Internet Explorer
If you get asked to make Internet Explorer your default browser? prompt appears, click Yes to make Internet Explorer the default browser.

You can also change other options from this area such as your default programs for other tasks as well as manage your IE addons.
