Question: Is there a way to have the Run option on the start menu in Windows 7 like Windows XP has?
Answer: The start menu in Windows was changed in Windows Vista and stayed that way in Windows 7. By default the Run option is not listed most likely because you can type in most of the same commands in the search box that you see when you click on start. Many people are used to having the Run option shown on the start menu so its easy to get to when you have to perform certain tasks that there may not be an actual icon for or to use shortcut commands to open programs.
There is a way to add the Run option to your start menu if you do want to have it back and it's very easy to do. All you need to do is right click on a blank spot of your taskbar and choose Properties. Then click on the Start Menu tab and then click on the Customize button. From there you will scroll down to the Run command box and put a check in it and click on OK and then OK again.
Now when you click on start you will see the Run option on the lower right side of the start menu right above shut down.
