Windows Questions and Answers - Make Internet Shortcut Open in New Window

Derry writes in with a Windows question:
Question:
Is it possible to stop windows opening a short cut to a web site in an existing window, i.e. when you double click on a short cut on your desk top, can you get internet explorer to open a new window? Or even better tell it which window to open? The last may be a little bit difficult but the first is surly just a reg edit? Thank you.

Answer: If you want to have Internet Explorer open internet shortcuts in a new window here is how you do it:

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools and then Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab and uncheck the box that says Reuse windows for launching shortcuts then click Ok.

I don't know of a way to make it open in a certain window or know if it’s even possible.
