Sylvia aske the following Windows question:
Q. My PC "froze" while online. After re-booting, programs will not open. Even the Windows "start" will not open.
A. Since this happened while online and now programs won't open we tend to think it may be spyware related. Check out our spyware section to download our recommended free spyware tools.
Since you said you cannot really use your computer we recommend starting your computer in Safe Mode. If you have a broadband connection you can choose Safe Mode with Networking so you can still get online to download the spyware software. You should also run the spyware software in Safe Mode for better results. Make sure to do the updates before running it.
While in Safe Mode access your startup items by using msconfig to see if there are any suspicious looking items that are checked. You can uncheck them so they don't start up with the computer. All it takes is one poorly written malicious piece of software trying to start up with your computer to make it hang.
