Windows Questions and Answers - Converting a Work Computer For Home Use

Mike writes in with a Windows question

Question:
Is there an easy way to convert a work computer to home internet use?

Answer: If this work computer was on a network or part of a domain like many computers are when they are used for work then you can log on to the computer locally rather than on to the domain. When you get to the login screen there should be a dropdown box for log on to and you can change that from the domain name to the computer name and that way you don't have to be on the network to log in.

You will have to know the name and password of a local user account for that computer to be able to log in locally. Once you do that then you should be able to use the computer at home and on the internet just fine.
