Windows Questions and Answers - How to Change Registered Windows User Name and Organization

Mukund writes in with a Windows question
Question:How do I change my registered user name and organization for my copy of Windows?

Answer: To change your registered user and organization name in Windows you will have to edit the registry. Click on start and type in regedit and press enter. Now browse to the following registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Next you will find the entries for RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization in the window on the right and double click each one to edit the information. There is no need to save afterward since registry edits take effect immediately. To see your new information simply click on Start and type winver.exe and press enter.
