You may a Netsetup.cpl error when trying to open a Control Panel item and it will reference C:\windows\system32\netsetup.cpl. This error may be caused by a couple of different things. There is a process called ipmon32.exe that may be running on your system. Ipmon32 is an application from Verizon. It provides the user with monitoring and diagnostic tools. To disable this service do the following:

  1. Go to Start and then Run
  2. Type in msconfig
  3. Click the Startup tab
  4. Uncheck IPMON32
  5. Click Apply
  6. Restart your computer

Another thing to check is to see if you have the Visual IP InSight Client installed. The Visual IP InSight Client is a utility that monitors the performance of Windows Dial-Up Networking call attempts.

Go to add remove programs and see if you have Visual IP InSight installed. If so, you can remove it.
